    STUDY ON A NOVEL TYPE OF Ni-BASED HYDROGENATION CATALYST

    Sepiolite modified by 12.0%(wt) hydrochloric acid was used as the support for nickel catalysts. A series of Ni/sepiolite catalysts containing different Promoters wee prepared by impregnation. The effect of promoter on the nickel catalysts was investigated by carbon dioxide methanation, benzene hydrogenation, heat resistance and CS2 poison, respectively. The results show that the addition of promoter, especially the Sm promoter, can increase the catalytic activity, heat stability and anti-poison capacity of the Ni/sepiolite catalyst.

    Silica-supported iron was taken as a probe to explore the effect of sodium promoter on the structure of Fe/SiO2 and its catalytic performance in OCM reaction using XRD, XANES and EXAFS techniques. XRD results indicate that SiO2 support still remains its amorphous feature in 1wt%Fe/SO2 after calcined at 800oC, while a sample promoted with sodium and calcined at 800oC, i.e. 1wt%Na-1wt%Fe/SiO2, is transformed to a-cristobalite structure.

    Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized by means of CH4 decomposition over a pre-reduced LaCoO3 catalyst. The decomposition of NO has been Studied over CNTs, Rh/CNTs and Rh/|?-Al2O3. TPR results indicated that (i) the Rh loading lowered the H2 uptake of CNTs significantly, and (ii) the Rh in Rh/CNTs could be reduced more easily than that in Rh/Al2O3. NO was completely reduced at 573 K by the hydrogen stored in the three H2-reduced catalysts. After the complete consumption of stored hydrogen, direct catalytic decomposition of NO occurred. During NO decomposition at or above 873K, there was the oxidation of the CNTs in Rh/CNTs to CO.

    Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) of uniform size can be abundantly produced by the catalytic decomposition of CH4 over metal (Fe, Cu) nano- particles prepared in situ by the reduction of perovskite-type oxides in a fluidized-bed catalytic reactor. The quality of CNTs obtained was characterized by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM. The results revealed that CNTs with various structures could be obtained from different perovskite-type oxides.

    Carbon dioxide reforming with methane on supported nickel catalysts was extensively investigated. The nickel-based catalyst supported on alumina exhibited the best performance. The effects of catalyst composition, such as metal loading, support and promoter, and reaction parameters, such as pressure, temperature and feed ratio, were respectively explored. Of special is that addition of promoters may block parts of metallic Ni sites and thus results in a reduction of methane conversion, although inhibition to carbon deposition on the catalyst surface occurred in the meantime.

    A series of catalysts containing nickel are prepared by impregnation and the influence of MoO3 on Ni/sepiolite catalysts is investigated by benzene hydrogenation reaction and CS2 poisoning. The results reveal that the addition of molybdenum increases the activity of hydrogenation and the number of active sites and reduces the activation enthalpy and activation entropy of the intermediate formed by catalyst and reactant. In the point of the transitional state theory, the results also reveal that the influence of MoO3 on the catalyst includes steric effect and electronic effect, whereas the electronic effect seems to be principal.

    Titanium dioxide then films was prepared by LPCVD. The deposition rate of the TiO2 thin films has been Studied. It is shown that water partial pressure, deposition temperature and substrate material have effects on the deposition rate. The structure of the films deposited on silicon substrates was anatase after annealing at 600??, or a mixture of anatase and rutile at 700oC, or rutile above 850oC.

    Carbon dioxide (dry) reforming of methane is an optimum route to chemically utilize natural gas and mitigate the greenhouse emission. Nickel might be the optimum active component of the potential catalyst designed. Carbon deposition is a fatal problem to nickel-based catalyst in the dry reforming process. The varieties of active components, preparation methods, supports and various promoters of the reforming catalysts as well as the formation, surface structure and the properties of the intermediates in the reforming process were systematically reviewed.
